Project
The challenges on this
site can best be summed up in four words:
Our client wanted a
very natural, realistic stream/waterfall
built into the side of a very steep hill
in his yard. The hill was a wild area that
he wanted to reclaim, filled with weeds
and other
undesirable plants.
The biggest
challenge with this hill was access, and
getting many tons of natural stone and
rock placed up and down this hill was difficult
indeed, but worth the effort, as the photos
suggest. He wanted stone steps from bottom
to top of hill, with a stone bridge crossing
the stream at some point. He wanted some
large sitting rocks placed in strategic
areas along the stream. At his request we
used several types of stone to achieve different
effects. Stone from South Dakota, New York,
Tennessee and other places was used to full
effect.
This water-feature is what's known in the
business as a "pond-less" system,
where the water runs into a rock-filled reservoir
at the lowest end of the feature, eliminating
any pond or standing water, and the maintenance
that goes along with them. You can turn the
system on and off at will. Leaving for the
weekend? Turn it off. Turn it back on when
you return. |
